GLOBAL POP STAR ELLIE SCOTT HAS A BILLION DOLLARS, MILLIONS OF ADORING FANS, THOUSANDS OF LOYAL EMPLOYEES, HUNDREDS OF AWARDS, AND ONE SECRET THAT COULD MAKE IT ALL DISAPPEAR: WHEN SHE WAS 17, SHE UNWITTINGLY SOLD HER SOUL TO THE DEVIL WHO’S COME TO COLLECT HIS DUE.

ABOUT SOULBOUND

At the zenith of her global fame, pop icon Ellie Scott prepares for her final "Crossroads Tour" concert. Haunted by spiritual emptiness as the tour comes to a close, she starts to question her management deal with Max, the erstwhile mid-level Devil who granted the stardom she didn’t realize included her very soul. As the concert unfolds, she recalls her humble roadhouse origins and her stratospheric rise to fame, culminating in an Act One climax where Ellie defiantly renounces Max and his Faustian bargain, triggering a catastrophic explosion that tears the fabric of space and time.

Act Two finds Ellie stripped of fame, fortune, and even her songs, now owned by rival superstar Lacy Carver, and back as a bartender in her old haunt. Trapped alongside her is the disgruntled Max. Forced into an unlikely partnership, they must collaborate to find a path back into a music world that has no idea who they are.

Our embryonic production centers on a young woman, who has it all: immense wealth, adoration, and accolades, yet she knows she’s given pieces of her priceless self, her soul, away. As writers-for-hire, that’s exactly how we feel (minus the wealth). By taking the classic Faustian story and marrying it with the tantalizing world of pop music to explore themes like identity, creative sacrifice, and the crushing weight of fame, we hope to create the intense emotional impact and rich storytelling your organization has historically championed.

We believe there’s a huge potential for a contemporary narrative, with innovative musical expression paired with a propulsive book, while attracting a younger audience that’s wrestling with the pitfalls of success, the fragility of their public personas, and how to authentically do the hard work of being human in a culture that constantly wants them to take the easy way.
